Literary Misfits has a Discord server for writers and readers!
It’s a free community to make friends, talk about what you’re reading, or just chill with like-minded people.
Why Make a Server?
Simply put, the comments section isn’t a great place to engage with people. It’s not a good way to build an actual community.
This allows us to do more things such as…
- Participate in book clubs
- Exchange feedback on short stories and share success stories
- Discuss the latest articles and suggest new topics
- Have a late-night chat over a cup of tea
And that’s just the beginning. You can expect frequent updates, fun bots and channels, and more to come.
Some Basic Rules
This community is LGBTQ+ friendly, so transphobia, homophobia, or general aversion to people having basic human rights is not allowed.
Spamming, harassment, or anything else that takes away from the purpose of the community is also not allowed. More detailed information can be found on the #rules-and-info channel, but know that we’ll do everything we can to make sure it’s a fun place for people to be.
In short: be nice to each other and have a good time.
Who Can Join?
Anyone is welcome to join.
If you’re a writer, don’t feel like your writing has to be perfect- this is a place to learn. You don’t have to be the biggest bookworm, either, if you want to join just to make friends and chat.
That said it is geared towards people who want to talk about the things they read, get recommendations, etc. There’s a “General” channel that is open to discussion of any kind, but other channels such as the “Writer’s Circle” should be kept on topic.
A Discord Server for Writers and Readers? Isn’t It For Games?
It’s for that, but it’s also for literally anyone or anything else.
If you’ve never used it before, here’s a handy little guide to get you started. It’s pretty easy to use and you’ll get the hang of it.
